  16.       I've installed TeX & LaTeX (Sun4 OS4.1.3) by following the instructions in:

  20.     I've come across some problems. Using 'latex filename' produces a 'dvi' file
  21.     which does not show correctly using 'xdvi'.  It misses every second
  22.     word on 'xdvi' output.  'dvitype' gives the following output:

  24. I have had the very same symptom when using "gcc (version 2.5.8) -O". I suspected
  25. gcc optimization problems and used Sun's acc instead. No problems now (except that
  26. patching all the ./*/*/Makefile's isn't funny) ...
